wait i feel like i Need to say something re: the kantbison bondage scene in ep3 part 4

i've been seeing a Lot of people be like "yeah no that scene was really off-putting idk ://"... i think that was the point?

neither of them are actually in the moment. kant is very clearly not enjoying himself At All, and bison is inebriated (and drugged???) past the point of real comprehension.

but that's the thing – that scene isn't about the two of them having sex. it's about them trying to desperately get their hands on what they really want.

the show's established that kant isn't into this stuff in the least (as seen post-fadel's confrontation at the tattoo parlor), but he's willing to suffer through it, to grit his teeth and bear through the quite literal pain. he's willing to do anything, as long as he'll finally be able to get the evidence he needs to be free of these things forever.

on the other hand, we've seen bison state over and over how much he's wanted to do all of this, how he's never been able to find someone to actually hold power over. and now bison – younger brother, "never allowed to make a real decision of his own for even a day in his life" bison – is finally, finally able to take control over someone's life; something that's meaningful, something that matters.

that's exactly why i'd argue that the entire scene isn't meant to be "hot" or "appealing," but rather unsettling and weird (especially with the constant cuts to fadel digging(?) mysteriously in a field, but that's a whole other thing).

TLDR; kantbison's first time may have been passion and lust incarnate, but this one is so far removed from that. because, this time, neither of them actually care about the sex more than about what it means – a means to an end for kant, and a first glimpse at unadulterated power for bison.

It's completely baffling that Gortash is the only one of the chosen three with whom we don't get to have any dialogue regarding the information we uncover about him.??

Like with Orin, we can mention her upbringing or the fact that she's a child of incest. Try to convince her that she's just been abused her whole life? Like obviously this changes nothing in the end. But it still matters that its mentioned.

Ketheric, we also can try and convince him to change his ways. Mention his wife, his religion, Isabelle. Literally mention everything we find out to try and convince him to turn a new leaf. Which also doesn't change any outcome. But I appreciate that its there.

But GORTASH??? We get absolutely NOTHING, it's absurd! It's baffling that we can't even touch on his backstory—like finding his parents,(possibly killing them depending on what you do) being sold to Raphael as a child, or the fact that he was scammed at one point. All the intriguing details we uncover about him lead to nowhere, and it's so annoying 😩

Like this isn't even just because I enjoy him as a character. It just seems like such a missed opportunity to find out more about him currently as a person!

The dialogue we encounter while trying to convince Ketheric and Orin reveals a profound insight into their true characters. Their reactions are telling and provide a unique perspective on who they are as individuals!

Ketheric fully recognizes the person he has become. He understands that he is a lost cause, fully acknowledging the wrongs he has committed and the irreparable damage he has caused. He accepts his fate without hesitation. Despite your words.

Orin lashes out in denial, and becomes completely manic (more so than her usual self). Completely baffled and distraught.

I want to know how Gortash would react if you brought up his parents or his childhood! It's a possibility he wouldn't be grateful if you slayed his parents; in fact, he would likely view any sympathy as a weakness and respond with anger or dismissiveness. Plus, we’ll never find out his true response to Durge after you say, “I always liked you.”

I don't understand these missed opportunities with him?? Like I get keeping some ambiguity to an extent. Its why we will never get a clear answer into him and durges relationship…..BUT I WOULD LIKE A CRUMB OF HIM PLEASE!! I DONT EVEN NEED A KISSY SCENE! I JUST WANT ANY INSIGHT INTO HIS OWN OPINION ON HIS PAST IF ITS MENTIONED!

I'm rereading Master and Commander and I'm deeply in danger of just posting every single passage from it ever but I did love the way that the capture of the prize in Chapter 6 was framed on either side by the logbook's entry, and also the way he transitions out of it to set the scene and tone:

like we have jon once again imagining getting frisky in the godswood. his obsession with the godswood/hot pools and his voyeur/sacrilege kink are literally confirmed….love this little freak. but not only that, we have the inclusion of him refusing his desires (kissing ygritte) because of his father watching - manifesting as a face on a weirwood - literally the manifestation of jon’s shame and guilt about his feelings and what his father would think.

and then this shame and denial of his desires is followed by the reasons for his guilt; he was the blood of winterfell. it’s strange to me that this reason is placed before being a man of the night’s watch, when that is the actual oath he broke for ygritte. not to mention that specific blood of winterfell term being used, when jon and sansa are the only starks to refer to themselves this way. it would have had the same meaning if grrm used ‘he was a stark’/‘he was eddard stark’s son’. but instead, he chose the term that links jon and sansa.

then we have the classic you know nothing, jon snow. this is ygritte’s catchphrase, so it’s clear why it’s included in his drugged out dream abt ygritte but we do see this phrase connected with sansa in his recollection before he dies…it’s strange how easily it can be used as a thread to link ygritte to sansa. interesting that there are two links that could be made to sansa here. (and i knowww the antis are going to accuse me of sTeALiNg CoNtEnT but that’s literally not possible, none of the content exists in a ship-only vacuum and content can have multiple meanings for multiple charas/used as textual tools to link events/charas/themes. like if an argument can be made that a link is exists, then everyone has the right to make the argument 🙄).

mayhaps i am delulu but we know grrms lovessss his breadcrumbs and alluding to future events/layering multiple meanings into his dream sequences. the veil covering this passage of jon’s desires that shame him, make him think of his father’s disapproval, specifically linked to him being blood of winterfell��yeah…i wonder what sort of future desires and events grrm could be alluding to that might lead to similar feelings….

genuine question from a person with ocd -> is there a good way to set boundaries with someone with ADHD regarding food hygiene? idk if I worded that well but I basically desperately need my friend to be more aware of his food going mouldy around the house. I know that is easier said than done. I notice basically everything messy in the house without a problem and right now i dont know if his issue is not noticing or noticing and then forgetting. Which is why I am interested to know if there's anything that helps anyone with adhd with noticing in particular that food is mouldy and then also dealing with it. any advice appreciated in asks or replies, thank you!!

edit: as soon as I published this I got my therapists voice in my head saying that the "How he goes about it" is actually his business in terms of getting better at mouldy food stuff, the only thing i need to do rn is make him aware that i want change, but also I would still like advice if there's anything I can suggest to him that has helped other people!!

Okay so um. To the Soichiro enthusiasts who don’t headcanon him as straight (specifying this because I’m assuming straight is the most commonly agreed on), what do you headcanon him as?? Personally my default headcanon is that he’s bisexual but genuinely just doesn’t realise he’s attracted to men, but him being a really closeted gay man is also really fun to explore.
